City: Jamestown, RI 02835
Country: US
State / Province: RI
Highlights of your life since graduation: After graduation I attended Yale College, then Yale Medical School, marrying Terri Distenfield in 1965. I became an obstetrician/gynecologist with a subspecialty of Maternal-Fetal medicine. After two years in the Navy in Oakland CA we returned to New Haven, then moved to Providence RI in 1982. I served as Professor and Chair of the ObGyn Dept at Brown until 2008, when I "retired" (I now work three days a week) to do the things I most enjoy...seeing patients with diabetes in pregnancy, doing research, mentoring, and pursuing my hobbies of wine making (I have a very small vineyard in my back yard) and photography.

Terri and I have three grown children (Becky, a recovering attorney who is principal of a charter high school in Providence; Rachel, a practicing veterinarian in East Providence; David, a consultant in social media living in Atlanta). We have four grandchildren (Noah, Milly,Jacob and Sarah) and we are fortunate to get to see them most Sundays since they live in Providence and we live about 25 miles away in Jamestown,on an island in the middle of Narragansett Bay, which is a great place for the kids to enjoy the water.

We love to travel, and last year visited the Galapagos Islands. This year we are planning a trip to Antarctica.
Memories or anything else you'd like to share: My Boyajian, our sophomore biology teacher, who taught us about evolution on the 100th anniversary of Darwin's "Origin of Species" and kindled my lifelong desire to see the Galapagos Islands...which was just fulfilled last year and was everything I had hoped for.

Margaret Annan who still lives in my superego whenever I sit down to write...

Florence Bergstrand...Latin Class lives on in all of our memories. Terri and I visited Pompeii a couple of years ago and that brought back so many experiences.

And all of the other wonderful teachers who made South Shore High School the wonderful environment for learning and maturing.

I just uploaded our graduation picture from Bradwell and it brought back memories; does anyone else remember that we sang "Bali Hai" and "The cuckoo cries" at graduation?

Highlights of your life since graduation: After attending the U of Michigan, I married Don (Coustan)and moved to New Haven Ct. I have worked as a Head Start teacher, a speech therapist,a curriculum director, a refugee settlement coordinator for Africans and Hmong, a ESL teacher, a mentor and GED teacher. We have three terrific children and 4 grandchildren. Don and I live in Jamestown and love living by the water.
Memories or anything else you'd like to share: I feel fortunate to have grown up in a community which encouraged the best in all of us.I look back at those years at South Shore High with great fondness-the Sing, football games, newspaper, and of course the Latin class.

Nancy Cutler (Cowall)

City: Mountain View
Country: US
State / Province: CA
Grade school attended: O\'Keefe, Luella, Burnham, Avalon Park
Highlights of your life since graduation: My husband Bob and I have had 37 wonderful years in the San Francisco Bay Area. While Palo Alto isn\'t quite the \"village of South Shore\" (as I remember it) it was a great environment in which to raise our two daughters, Serena (married to Ken Wallace) and Ariana. We\'re really blessed to have them both live close by.

Since my husband\'s retirement from the high tech industry (developing disk drives so we\'d all have a place to store our information!) we\'ve had more time for our favorite shared hobbies...travel and photography.

I\'m still actively involved in my interior design/remodeling business and have no plans to retire.
Memories or anything else you'd like to share: T-Hut, Mitchell\'s, Sunday sorority meetings, the JCC sidewalk on Tuesday nights, The Overflow, South Shore Temple and the KISS Dance, Sweet Sixteen parties, Judi Wilensky\'s grandfather for our driving tests, \"canning\" at the Randolph St. IC station and 71st St. station, Peter Pan and 71st St. on Saturday afternoons, The Opener, The Sing, makeout parties in basement rec rooms, The Washington Trip (Mrs. Feldman\'s last), 74th St. Beach and the rocks at 67th St. beach, weekends taking the train \"Downstate\" senior year.

Lucy Day (Reals)

City: Greenwich
Country: US
State / Province: CT
Grade school attended: Myra Bradwell Elementary School
Highlights of your life since graduation: I went to the University of Chicago for my BA in Anthropology (American Archeology), and married straight out of college - a marriage that lasted 12 years, no children. Spent three memorable years in Augusta Georgia where I saw Martin Luther King, Jesse Jackson and Ralph Abernathy and was forcibly removed from a diner for having a hamburger with a bunch of black ministers. Then I went to the University of Pennsylvania for my MA, again in Anthropology/American Archeology - passed my PhD prelims, discovered there were no teaching jobs, hung up my trowel and went to work in New York doing mergers and acquisitions research, securities analysis and finally as a financial futures broker for 8 years. I married again, Nat Day, who was widowed, and adopted his two daughters, then seven and eleven. We have now been married 31 years. Annabelle Day lives in San Francisco, E.V. Day who is an artist lives with her husband Ted Lee, a food writer, in Brooklyn. No grandchildren, several grand cats. When I married Nat, I moved to Greenwich CT and quit working...became a gardening fanatic (topiary garden) and a devoted volunteer plus cofounded the Breast Cancer Alliance. In addition to gardening, I play Scrabble and we travel a lot.
Memories or anything else you'd like to share: Hmmmmm, my memories of high school are pretty vague.
