Phyllis Blumenthal, born 8/22/1942 in Chicago to Sam and Ethel Schechter. Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Friend and 2nd mom to many. Affectionate, caring, ebullient, funky, unique, nostalgic, creative, funny individual who lived for the moment and led by her heart. Proud Chicagoan, remained a South Sider till the end. Avant-garde dresser, a clothes designer that sold to many chic boutiques on Oak St. Played Santa Claus at Carson Pirie Scott during the holidays. Grooved to Motown, Elvis and Broadway. Fascinated by architecture, art, SoCal sunsets, rainbows, sparklers, fabric, ladybugs and autobiographies. Frequent sender of greeting cards accompanied by glitter. Halloween enthusiast. Loving wife of nearly 55 years and grandmother for the last seven. Moved to San Diego in 2014 to be near grandchildren. Survived by husband Fred, son Mathew, daughter-in-law Glenda, grandchildren Eden and Xander, siblings Lawrence and Claire. The world will never be the same, you are deeply loved and dearly missed! Passed away just after midnight going into January 28th, 2021; fought to see another day.
