I'm obviously VERY late in visiting this site, and it is with profound sadness that I see that Alice died.  She was a great friend to me - and even tough me how to kiss.  I know she is and will be missed.

Dear Alice:  I'm so sorry to learn of your passing.  Your dad was a hero of mine, a real crusader for honesty and fairness in government, and working with him on issues around the Chicago Sanitary District was an eye-opener for a 16-yr-old kid.  I wish that you and I had stayed in touch, too.   Sincerely,    Michael
