After leaving South Shore, I attended Wilson Junior College and was president of the choir. It was at Wilson Junior college where I met my future wife, Sheila Rush. After receiving an Associates of Arts Degree, I worked at South Shore Country Club. I then took a job at Alden's mail order as a receiving clerk. The Selective Service called for me, but sent me home with a 4Y rating. This meant that I wasn't going to be called except for a national emergency or war. (Vietnam was not considered a war yet). After being denied a management position at Alden's because I could still be called for the draft, I went back to school. I attended Chicago Teachers College. After graduation in the fall of 1967, I began my teaching career at Bright Elementary School in Chicago. In 1968, I married Sheila Rush who had also graduated to became a teacher as well. We had three children together, Robert Jr., Colleen, and Michael. In 1998, my wife passed away after a long fight with breast cancer. I retired from teaching in 2001. In my spare time I enjoy singing karaoke, gardening, and fishing. I also cherish the time I can now spend with my two grandchildren, Korey and Cody.

I went to Southern Ill University after high school and majored in Psychology for almost 3 years. Then married and moved to Peoria ILL. I have moved many times and have lived in Geneva Switzerland, Munich Germany, Boise Idaho, Salt Lake City Utah (where I completed my degree in Psychology at the U of Utah). Then I lived in Vancouver and Tacoma WA, Phoenix Arizona, Seaside Oregon, and finally St. George, Utah. I have lived out west for over forty years and love it out this way.
I spent over thirty years in Human Resource (HR) management for mostly international companies. My second husband, Bill and I have a blended family of five kids. So far we have five grandchildren who all live in Utah. We both traveled a lot overseas and all around the U.S before we met. We also traveled because of our jobs and continue to do so in our retirement. I have always been grateful for the quality of education I received at SSHS. I felt really prepared going into college. I can not wait to see everyone at the reunion. |
